"No one has ever become poor by giving." - Anne Frank

I have always believed that we are blessed: to grow up in an organised and advanced country; with an excellent environment that is safe, yet conducive for us to explore, empathise and understand the world we live in. We do have our own share of #firstworldproblems, but they definitely pale in comparison to those who struggle everyday for survival; for basic needs.

I am thankful that I have the ability to give back, to balance and sustain the world for our future. However, I lack that deep sense of passion and commitment to be a social entrepreneur or lead social causes. Hence, in an effort to maximise the potential of human congregation for a joyous event, and to harness the endless positivity of our friends, we have decided to adopt a charity for our wedding. Yes, we understand that the wedding should be about us, but we believe it is also the best opportunity to raise funds for a good cause.

Those who have visited Cambodia would understand the current state of its poverty and desperate situation; a result from the Khmer Rouge. Tabitha Cambodia is a sustainable non-profit organization which was initiated, founded and established by Ms. Janne Ritskes in 1994. All funds are used to help the poorest people in Cambodia through programmes that focus on personal and financial development. Since 1994, Tabitha Cambodia have reached over half a million people, working directly with over 30,000 families, through our high impact community development programs. Tabitha currently works in 37 areas within 15 provinces (15) in Cambodia providing programs that make significant changes/ development  in the lives of the Cambodian people. Tabitha Singapore is entirely volunteer based, and all funds are channeled directly to Tabitha Cambodia.

A total of $2000 was raised at our solemnisation which has gone directly to support the Nokor Tep Woman's Hospital Project. While health outcomes and life expectancy in Cambodia are improving alongside the general development of the country, the country continues to have weak health indicators in worldwide comparisons, including a high maternal mortality rate.

Financial barriers and a lack of resources and awareness among the female population often lead to cancers going undetected until it is too late for treatment. Nokor Tep Woman's Hospital will not only provide access to proper and modern gynaecological and oncological care not currently available at all in Cambodia, regardless of economic status, but also provide the education and preventive care to stop these illnesses.

Progress in underway and the project still needs more donations!
